What equipment is used?
We use the latest in microneedling technology, the Mpen. It is an FDA-approved device which uses small needles to gently pierce the skin, encouraging the body’s natural ability to heal.
The Mpen is much superior to traditional dermal rollers as it can precisely control the depth of each needle. Allowing us to offer you, tailored treatment for specific skin concerns to achieve the best results. Click here to learn more about the Mpen technology.
We recommend a course of 6 treatments to help rejuvenate the skin, improving its texture, pigmentation, firmness and reducing scarring.
What skin conditions can microneedling treat?
- Stretch marks
- Scarring
- Sun damge
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Enlarged pores
- Rosacea
- Hyperpigmentation
What happens during the treatment?
A thorough skin consultation is required before any treatment. We will assess the condition of your skin, explain the procedure, possible side effects and the aftercare you need to follow.
Before treatment, you skin is cleaned, and a hyaluronic acid serum is applied to help hydrate and heal the skin. The Mpen device is then applied to your skin, it uses single-use, small sterile needles to gently pierce the skin around 1300 times every second. The depth of the treatment is decided during your consultation and is tailored to your skin concerns.
Once the Mpen has been applied to all of the treatment area, a deep soothing mask is applied onto the skin for 5 minutes. The mask encourages the skin to heal and close the microchannels created by the Mpen device. The mask chosen for your post-needling treatment is tailored according to your skin concerns. We will then apply an SPF 50 sun protection cream.
How long is the Recovery Period?
Treatment comes with a minimal recovery period. It can take a day or two to recover, depending on the level of microdermabrasion used on your skin. However, you can expect to return to your daily routine soon after treatment. You may have slight redness after treatment, similar to a sunburn. We recommend the use of sun protection cream post treatment to prevent hyperpigmentation. We discourage the use of makeup immediately after treatment.
You can resume your skincare routine 3 days after treatments, with more active skincare products being resumed 5 days after treatment once the skin has recovered.
Aftercare Advice
For a minimum of 48 hours after treatment, we ask that you do not:
- Touch the treated area
- Wash or expose the treated areas directly to heat or the sun
- Engage in strenuous exercise that can cause sweating
- Expose the treated areas to saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzi, or hot showers
-
We recommend you use a high SPF sun protection cream for up to 2 weeks after treatment. You will be given a detailed aftercare leaflet post treatment explaining everything you need to know.
Are there any contraindications?
Treatment is not recommended if you are under 18, are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
Your nurse prescriber will discuss everything in detail with you during your consultation as there are many other conditions and medications which could interact with the procedure.

How many treatments do I need?
We recommend a course of microneedling consisting of 3-6 treatments. This depends on the area being treated, and your desired results. The treatment will be followed with a recommended maintenance program once or twice a year.
How soon can I start to see results?
Optimal results can be seen between two to three months after treatment, where the microneedling has helped to revitalise the skin. You can resume your skincare routine 3 days after treatments, with more active skincare products being resumed 5 days after treatment once the skin has recovered.
Is the treatment painful? Will I bruise?
Every patient’s experience of pain is different, however, we will try our best to make the treatment as comfortable as possible for you. Bruising around the eyes is possible but only a small percentage of patients develop small bruising. If bruising occurs, it is usually faint and will typically resolve over 5-10 days.
Other possible side effects include swelling or puffiness, mild irritation and bruising around the eyes. The bruising around the eyes is likely as the under-eye area has lots of small blood vessels.
I'm pregnant, can I have microneedling?
We do not advise microneedling procedures during pregnancy or breast-feeding.
Could I have microneedling if I am not 18?
The treatment is recommended for people between the ages of 18 and 60. Unfortunately, anyone under the age of 18 cannot receive this treatment.
