What can be treated with Profhilo?
Profhilo can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns. Such as hydration, skin laxity, skin texture and tone, acne scars, smile lines and sagging skin. It is an ideal treatment for firming and smoothing skin on the neck, around the mouth, nose and chin. People will want to know what your beauty secret is!
Am I suitable for treatment?
Anyone worried about signs of ageing on their skin is suitable for treatment. The treatment is recommended for people between the ages of 18 and 60. Profhilo can be used on its own, or to complement other injectable treatments.
How long does the treatment take?
Two treatments administered 28 days apart are required. The Profhilo is a simple procedure only taking 20 minutes. It is injected in small doses and quickly spreads out over a 2cm radius. After a few days, the Profhilo ‘melts’ into the surrounding tissue creating a plump, glowing and youthful appearance. It also has a unique effect of lifting and tightening ageing skin.
How long do the results last?
Typically, you can expect results to last around 6 to 9 months before the body reabsorbs the hyaluronic acid and then repeat injections would be required.
Profhilo lasts in the skin for around 28 days. During this time, the Profhilo stimulates 4 types of collagen and elastin through the slow release of hyaluronic acid. This stimulation creates a significant improvement in the tissue of the skin, resulting in younger, dewy, plumper, smoother, firmer and healthy glowing skin.
Profhilo is unique in the fact that it lifts and hydrates tissue without excessive bulking, which is a common side effect found with facial fillers. As with all treatments, the duration of the results can vary from one person to the next.
How many treatments will I need?
You need to attend two Profhilo treatments 28 days apart initially. To maintain results, we recommend a top-up treatment every 6 to 9 months.
How soon after will I start to see results?
Results can be seen within a month. However, the best results are seen after the second session. Both sessions must be completed to achieve the best results. As the treatment is injected superficially, it is incredibly safe and there is typically no to minimal bruising or downtime.
How much does it cost?
Pricing starts from £500, however treatment and pricing will be tailored to your desired results. All this will be covered with full transparency in your consultation with your practitioner. The quantity of filler needed is determined by the intensity of the result you would like to achieve; the cost is then worked out based on how much dermal filler is needed.
What does BDDE-free mean?
Tab
Typically, dermal fillers contain BDDE (1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether), this is a synthetic cross-linking chemical. It is present in dermal fillers to help prevent the hyaluronic acid in the filler from breaking down too quickly by the body.
Profhilo is BDDE-free, meaning it has no synthetic chemicals. Instead, Profhilo has a high molecular weight with a low molecular weight hyaluronic acid which works together in the skin to hydrate, plump and tighten.
Who performs the injections?
As the injections are viewed as a medical treatment, they should be performed by a qualified professional in a medical environment. At the clinic, our team of highly experienced and highly qualified nurse prescribers ensure that every treatment we complete is safe, and of a high professional standard.
Can I receive treatment straight after my consultation?
Yes, this is possible and completely up to you. Many of our patients who travel long distances have their consultation and receive treatment on the same day.
Can I go back to work immediately after the treatments?
You may experience tenderness or soreness after your treatment. Any swelling should reduce within a few days. These side effects are completely normal and do not present concern. To help the treated area heal, avoid touching the treated area or partaking in physical exercise in the days following your treatment.
Does the treatment hurt? Will I bruise?
Every patient’s experience of pain is different. We will try our best to make the treatment as comfortable as possible for you by using a local anaesthetic before treatment to reduce discomfort. Bruising around the injection site is possible but only a small percentage of patients develop minor bruising. If bruising occurs, it is usually apparent at day 2-3 and will typically resolve over 5-10 days. We are exceptionally experienced with needles to be as gentle and pain-free as possible.
Are there any possible side effect to the treatment?
You may experience minor lumps, swelling or puffiness from treatment which will reduce 1 to 2 days after treatment. Due to the delicate area being treated, these side effects are completely normal and could last for a few days. As the filler is non-permanent, any side effects will improve and heal with time. If you’re concerned you can visit us or give us a call for advice.
When is the best age to get filler treatment?
Ageing is individual, so there is no right time to get fillers. If you begin to notice subtle changes, such as your makeup no longer looking right, it may be as a result of ageing. We do not recommend fillers for anyone under the age of 18.
What if I don’t like the results from my fillers?
It’s possible to instantly dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers using the same enzyme the body uses to break down its own natural hyaluronic acid in the skin.
Can I have fillers if I am not 18?
The treatment is recommended for people between the ages of 18 and 60. Unfortunately, anyone under the age of 18 cannot receive this treatment.
