With all medicines, some risks are associated. It should be noted that medications are only made available once clinical trials have demonstrated that the benefits outweigh the risks.

Mild side effects to be aware of include:

• Irritation, infection, bleeding or bruising around the injection site
• Rare reports of allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis.
• Hypodermoclysis, associated with oedema (swelling)

Some side effects could be mild, while others may be more serious however, everyone reacts differently to mediations and it is difficult to predict the side effects you may experience or whether you have any at all.

During your consultation, you will be made fully aware of all potential risks. It is important if you experience any side effects that you contact your prescriber.

There are currently no serious effects between Hyaluronidase and other medications. However, Furosemide, phenytoin and the benzodiazepines have been found to be incompatible with it. It is always important to be upfront with your prescriber about your medical history to create the best treatment plan tailored to you. If you experience any unusual symptoms, you should let your prescriber know immediately.

Some vitamins could interact with Hyalase, but it is very unlikely. If you are taking vitamins, you should let your prescriber know. Sometimes rare causes of interactions can occur, we wish to be fully transparent about any potential risks. All of this will be discussed during your consultation.

After treatment, the Hyaluronidase takes effect within the first 24 hours. If, after 5 to 7 days you haven’t achieved your desired results, we will welcome you back to assess and solve any issues. This gives you enough downtime for any potential swelling or bruising to heal, which could be mistaken for undissolved filler.

Yes, this is possible and completely up to you. Many of our patients who travel long distances have their consultation and receive treatment on the same day.

For our Hyalase treatment, we will perform a patch test where a small amount will be injected into your forearm. We will ask you to wait in the waiting room then assess you after a short time to assure that you have no side effects to the treatment. After this assessment, we can continue with the treatment, or you can return another day.

The Hyaluronidase solution only targets the previously injected filler and will not dissolve your natural tissue. Hyalase will strictly dissolve the hyaluronic based filler that you have had injected in the past. Your appearance will be your natural look without filler.

You might experience swelling and bruising for around 2-3 days near the injection site. This is expected and will recover a few days after treatment. If you are worried about your results, please get in touch.

Every patient’s experience of pain is different, however we try our best to make the treatment as comfortable as possible for you. We use a local anaesthetic before treatment to reduce discomfort. Bruising around the injection site is possible but only a small percentage of patients develop small bruising. If bruising occurs, it is usually apparent at day 2-3 and will typically resolve over 5-10 days.
