What is Aqualyx used for?
AQUALYX® is not a weight loss solution. It is used to treat stubborn areas of fat pockets on the body, most typically around the hips, thighs, knees, stomach, back, chin, neck and underneath the buttocks. Treating pockets of fat that are difficult to reduce through diet and exercise.
What will happen during my treatment?
One Aqualyx treatment will typically consist of two injection sites. Before your treatment, a local anaesthetic will be used to minimise any discomfort during the procedure. Your practitioner will inject the AQUALYX® solution to the treatment area, then an ultrasound device is used to assist the breakdown of the fat cells.
How long does the treatment take?
Treatment time can vary depending on the size of the area being treated. Typically, treatment can take around 30 to 60 minutes, with 2 to 8 treatments needed at least 4 weeks apart. Areas such as the chin and neck may see significant results after 1 or 2 sessions, while treatment of fat pockets on the hips and thighs may require up to 8 treatments.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
During your consultation, we will discuss your treatment and recommend the right number of sessions to help you achieve your desired results.
Results of the Aqualyx treatment are permanent, once the fatty tissues have been processed through the lymphatic system, they will not reappear. However, it is only permanent if you continue to follow a healthy diet and exercise regime. The treated fat pockets could likely return if you regain weight.
Are there any side effects to Aqualyx?
People treated with AQUALYX® will typically have minimal side effects, especially when compared to more invasive fat loss procedures, such as liposuction.
Expected treatment side effects can include swelling, redness and tenderness around the treated area for up to 14 days. It is possible that some people may experience excessive bruising as well as swelling. Side effects will reduce within 2 weeks, and you may take over-the-counter painkillers if you experience any pain from these side effects.
AQUALYX® manufacturers have not reported any major side effects from treatment.
Am I suitable for treatment?
The treatment is recommended for people between the ages of 18 and 60.
There are few medical reasons as to why you may not be suitable for treatment. As long as you are generally healthy, with no skin infections or diseases in the treatment area you are most likely suitable.
