Open Pores

Open pores are small openings on the skin that allow sweat, dead cells and sebum to escape. When pores become clogged, they can dilate resulting in a more visible and ‘open’ appearance on the skin.

Open pores can also be down to genetics. As the health of our skin can depend on our ethnic origin, as well as our health and skincare routine.

What causes pors to open up?

The appearance of open pores on the surface of the skin is most commonly caused by too much sebum production or a lack of cell regeneration. Open pores can also be influenced by:

  • Using inappropriate products
If unsuitable products are applied to the skin, which doesn’t meet its needs. The skin struggles to balance itself and breathe. A good example of this is using an oil-based moisturiser on an oily skin type, the excess of oil on the skin leads to an increase in sebum production where the skin tries to balance itself.
  • Ageing skin
As we age, our skin produces less collagen and the regeneration of skin cells slows down. This can cause a change in the skin structure making pores more visible.
  • Unhealthy lifestyle habits
The health of our skin is influenced by our internal health. The consequences of a stressful lifestyle, unhealthy diet, consumption of alcohol or tobacco reflects in the condition of the skin. The surface of the skin can lose its tone and smooth texture as a result.

At Pearl Aesthetics we understand the importance of open pores and all related conditions. We will provide a combination of treatment plans to provide the best care to help improve your skin texture. If you’re looking for expert help, get in touch.
