Hair Loss
There are a number of reasons that can cause hair loss, including genetic and medical conditions. Hair loss can vary from a general thinning to hair loss in localised areas. We understand how hair loss can be quite a distressing thing to go through and can have an impact on self-esteem. We offer a range of treatments that can help stimulate hair growth and restore your confidence again.
Our hair grows in its own natural cycle, so it is normal to lose a few strands of hair every day. However, if you begin to lose an unusual amount of hair that can become a cause of concern. To help identify issues surrounding hair loss and thinning, it’s important to be aware of the hair growth cycle.
The hair growth cycle consists of three stages:
Anagen Phase
Known as the hair growth phase. At this stage of the cycle, hair can grow on average 1-2 cm a month.
Catagen Phase
The shortest stage, it is a transitional stage which lasts around 10 days.
Telogen Phase
The final stage, known as the resting phase, where hair falls out. The follicle will then remain inactive for 3 months before the whole hair growth cycle is repeated again.
It is important to note that each individual hair follicle goes through its own cycle at different times. Which is why we only lose a small amount of hair every day. If your scalp is healthy you can expect to lose up to 80 hairs a day!
So, when the growth cycle is disrupted, it is easy to see how issues around hair loss and thinning can occur. The growth cycle can be disrupted in a number of ways. Such as, hormonal and genetic factors, ageing, health conditions, improper nutrition, and metabolic imbalances.
As each case of hair loss is individual, all of our hair loss treatment plans are tailored to you. Our experts will work with you to create the best solution for your hair loss concerns.

Hair loss can occur suddenly, or over some time with some types being temporary, and other permanent. Depending on your case of hair loss, you can experience different symptoms to others.
A gradual thinning of the hair Is the most common sign of hair loss. It affects both men and women when they age. Typically, women will notice a loss of hair within their parting. Men often notice a receding of the hairline.
Patchy or circular bald spots – Some people may notice small bald spots on their scalp, beards or eyebrows. Occasionally, skin can feel itchy before the hair falls out.
A sudden loosening of the hair – Most commonly caused by stress or a physical or emotional shock. You may notice more hair coming out when brushing or washing your hair.
Full body hair loss – Some medical treatments such as chemotherapy can result in the loss of all body hair. Typically, this is temporary, and hair tends to grow back after.
- Hereditary, if your parents or grandparents experienced hair loss, you’re more likely to experience it too.
- Hormonal changes, such as pregnancy or menopause.
- Medical conditions
- Stress
- Improper nutrition
- Medication and medical treatments
- Diets and weight loss
At Pearl Aesthetics, we offer a range of treatments that can help stimulate hair re-growth. Some types of hair loss can be treated effectively and prevented, however, others can only be improved or delayed.
We will also recommend some at-home methods to help enhance your treatment results:
- Ensure you eat a well-balanced diet, full of protein, iron and vitamins
- Avoid harsh heat on your hair such as straighteners, hot oil treatments and more
- Follow a hair care routine that is tailored to your hair type
- Avoid smoking. It has been found there is a link between baldness and smoking in men.
- Protect your hair from ultraviolet and sunlight.
