Cellulite
Cellulite is a condition which causes the skin to have a dimpling appearance. This is commonly seen in the thighs, stomach and buttocks. It is sometimes referred to as an orange-peel appearance on the skin. Cellulite is often mistaken as a condition that only affects women however, it can also develop in men.
Cellulite occurs when fat found beneath the surface of the skin pushes through the strands of connective tissue. Typically, we see the appearance of cellulite when we are older. This is because the connective tissue in our skin is made up of mostly collagen, and when we get older the production of collagen decreases, weakening our connective tissue and allowing fat to become more noticeable.
Cellulite Symptoms
It has been found that almost 90% of women develop cellulite throughout their life. With some developing symptoms as soon as their late teens. Men are also susceptible to developing cellulite often found in the upper arms, thighs, stomach and buttocks areas.
For women, the chances of developing cellulite increase with age, in particular around menopause. This is due to the hormonal changes that occur during menopause. Such as a reduction is oestrogen levels, which can affect the production of collagen. Other causes of cellulite can be a result of fat cells that becoming larger or increasing in number, a reduction in the collagen layer, and a change in the blood supply.
Cellulite is identified in four stages of development:
- Grade 0: No cellulite is present in the skin
- Grade 1: There is a smooth appearance to the skin while standing. However, bumps and dimples appear when sitting.
- Grade 2: There is an orange peel appearance to the skin while standing and sitting.
- Grade 3: There is an orange peel appearance to the skin with deep raised and depressed areas while standing and sitting.
We offer a range of clinically proven, effective and pain-free solutions for cellulite reduction. Each treatment is designed to help achieve your desired results. Helping to reduce the appearance of cellulite, some will also see a reduction in the size of the treated area too.

- A rigidness of collagen fibres in the skin, causing an inward pull and creating dimpling.
